REFERRALS FROM PROVIDERS
ADVANTAGES OF REFERRING TO SKIN CANCER DAY SURGERY
The Skin Cancer Day Surgery provides services to dermatologists who have specialised in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. In Australia, Mohs surgery is only performed by dermatologists that have undertaken further post-graduate training. Mohs surgery is the most precise way to remove skin cancer, and has the highest cure rate of any skin cancer treatment. It is also the only surgical skin cancer treatment that ensures the smallest possible wound, whilst still achieving complete tumour clearance. This is particularly advantageous when tumours grow at sites where conserving the surrounding tissue is important for functional and cosmetic reasons (e.g. face, ears, nose, lips, eyelids, hands and feet, digits, etc.).

HOW TO REFER PATIENTS
SCDS only accepts referrals for the treatment of skin cancers, sun damage and pre-cancerous spots for the doctors that we provide service for. Referrals must be addressed to the individual doctor and not the hospital. We do not accept indefinite referrals.

GENERAL REFERRALS
To refer a patient, the referral can be emailed, faxed, posted, or given to the patient to bring on the day of their appointment.

URGENT REFERRALS
For urgent referrals, it is best for your GP to contact our reception directly via telephone on (03) 9888 3590, and/or to fax a referral stating it is URGENT to (03) 9830 8759.
